Deck railing systems and Balusters
We have you covered! Our Midwest display showrooms carry a variety of options for aluminum and metal deck railing and balusters.
Are warped and unsafe deck rails lowering the value of your home?
Over time, old railings can loosen at the joints, become unstable and create a potential safety hazard. Installing new deck railing will allow you to enjoy your outdoor space worry-free again.
Avoid serious injury and risk of injury by replacing your railing with more durable, more stable deck railing.
A complete deck with railings is the fourth most valuable home improvement project for homeowners.
Deck railing is one of the most essential elements in terms of looks, usefulness, and safety.
Types of Railing Systems

Aluminum and Iron Rail Panels
Aluminum deck railing systems are non-ferrous metal, which offers exceptional performance and will not experience excessive corrosion and rust.
Galvanized rail panels with improved coating systems can provide excellent performance at a slightly lower cost than most aluminum deck railing systems.
Metal rail panels provide homeowners the benefits of low maintenance, good structural integrity, and numerous aesthetic options.
Visibility
Because the sizing of the upper and lower horizontal members on metal deck railing panels are smaller than wood or manufactured rail systems, they provide a less obstructed view than many deck railing systems on the market.
Aesthetic Flexibility
In addition to being installed with matching factory metal rail posts, the panels can be used with vinyl, wood, or brick rail posts to create unique and beautiful blended deck railings. Install low voltage lighting, a flat rail cap with some systems, and order railings to fit on radius decks.
Installation Simplicity
Compared to most rail systems, pre-assembled deck railing systems are easy to install with factory mounting brackets and rackable stair rail panels.

Glass Deck Railing
Glass deck railing systems will provide a refined look and an unobstructed view from your deck or patio. Both glass deck panels or glass deck balusters are available options.
Crystal Clear Visibility
Solid glass panels become virtually invisible, while glass balusters provide a similar view allowing airflow through the rail system.
Elevated Aesthetics
Glass railings offer a contemporary look and visually trump any other deck railing system used today.
Design Versatility
Install an all-glass railing system made of tough, tempered glass combined aluminum or wood rail systems.

Composite Deck Railing
Composite railing systems provide an aspirational look combined with low maintenance option for homeowners. Several manufacturers produce these quality rail systems with many color options to match or contrast with your composite decking choice.
Layered Appearance
These composite railings allow design versatility as it’s possible to mix color combinations for rail post sleeves, vertical balusters, and the horizontal members for a bespoke look or match elements for an inspired feel.
Combination Variety
Incorporate glass, aluminum, and iron balusters into many manufacturers rail systems.
Low Maintenance
No sanding, staining, or hammering down nails that have come unstuck. No worries. Just extraordinary decking at a reasonable price – with minimal maintenance required.

Cable Deck Railing
Cable railing is an excellent choice for homeowners who want an unobstructed view and an eclectic look. Stainless steel horizontal and vertical cable systems are available. Cable rail options can vary in cost depending on a project’s design and size and is typically more expensive than metal rail systems.
Clean Design
Incorporate stainless steel horizontal and vertical cable systems with wood, metal, or vinyl rail posts.
Unobstructed View
Even small decks begin to look bigger and more spacious thanks to the minimal visibility of cable railings.
Various Styling
Flexibility in style and orientation, cable railing blends well with different home styles.

Wood Deck Railing
Wood rail systems are typically cut and installed on the project site from standard building supply stock items such as pressure treated or cedar lumber. Spahn & Rose carries all the necessary inventory, including lumbar, hardware, and fastening items, to help you design and build your wood rail system. Factory components such as turned spindles are also available for purchase.
Low Cost
Lumber is relatively inexpensive, readily available in nearly every dimension, and easy to use. Pressure-treated wood generally has a limited lifetime warranty covering fungal decay (wet rot) and termite infestation.
Variety of Choices
Spahn & Rose carries various lumber that includes Western Red Cedar, Southern Yellow Pine, and Douglas Fir.
Color Options
With the wide variety and stains and sealers on the market, you can be sure that your deck and railing can match or choose different shades to match your style perfectly.

Types of Deck Balusters
Aluminum Deck Balusters
Aluminum deck balusters come in a variety of designs, colors, and patterns that provide many options and looks for your home. Numerous decorative accessories and deck baluster connectors are also available. Black aluminum deck balusters in particular provide a virtual clear and unobstructed view when on a deck looking outward.
Powder-coated aluminum deck balusters provide a low maintenance component option when integrated into any rail system with only an occasional cleaning required. Aluminum is a non-ferrous metal, which provides excellent performance and will not experience excessive corrosion and rust. Aluminum deck balusters are also one of the most weather resistant baluster options on the market and can easily withstand any environmental elements, including rain, snow, and UV rays.
Although slightly more expensive than wood balusters, aluminum options are very affordable in comparison. When compared to maintenance cost of staining wood rail balusters the cost crossover effectively evens out after a couple of deck staining maintenance sessions.
