General managers from Spahn & Rose’s 23 locations met at Grand River Center & Grand Harbor Resort in Dubuque, Iowa, February 22–23 as part of the company’s leadership conference.During the meeting, Spahn and Rose leadership worked together to develop strategies to fulfill the company’s mission of providing the products and services that make it easier for contractors and builders to operate their businesses efficiently and profitably.
Always looking for new ways to improve, Spahn & Rose General Managers and other company leadership gathered in Dubuque, Iowa, this March to share ideas, participate in workshops and share information from vendors. In addition to looking forward and developing new ideas to better serve customers, attendees also celebrated individual and company achievements of the past year.
Dave Roche, Accounting Supervisor in the Spahn & Rose General Office in Dubuque, Iowa, has always been good with numbers. The problem solving and balance inherent in working with them attracted him to the accounting profession; the fact that his grandfather was a certified public accountant (CPA) also helped.
Its exemplary commitment to workplace safety has garnered the Independence location the April 2018 Going Above and Beyond Award.Each employee at the Independence store will receive a $25 Spahn & Rose gift card.
This past year presented many challenges for the customers and communities Spahn & Rose serves. For customers planning projects such as a new deck, building materials were in high demand and lead times were occasionally in flux. When Chris Jacobsen makes deliveries as a driver for Spahn & Rose’s Jesup, Iowa, location, he’s an essential, primary point of contact with customers. With every drop-off, he strives to provide excellent customer service.“I like to get to know customers and joke around,” he says. “I try to make sure the customer has everything with the delivery, and before taking off I’ll help make sure the materials are set up where the customer needs.”
Jean Nolin’s official title at the Newton, Iowa, Spahn & Rose location is Inside Sales Representative. Just about every day, though, she wears many hats. She’ll work the front counter, stock shelves and do the store’s bookkeeping. (more…)

A year ago, Iowans in the DeWitt area were reeling from a double dose of disaster. In addition to contending with COVID-19, storms with more than 100-mph winds raged through the Clinton County town. As the area rebuilt, residents relied on Spahn & Rose to quickly provide building materials to protect their homes and businesses. And the DeWitt Spahn & Rose relied on Kirk Nystrom, its Assistant General Manager.
