A couple in Bettendorf, Iowa, recently visited Dawn Tiesman, a Cabinet Designer at the DeWitt Spahn & Rose location, to consult about a kitchen redesign. They hoped to remodel both their kitchen and an unused formal dining area to update the style of both areas and make the overall space better for entertaining. The challenge: Tiesman had to work within the confines of some support structures.

Her creative solution was to design a large, bat-wing-style island backed with shiplap and an X-shaped endcap to provide plenty of seating adjacent to a custom bar space. Then, to complement the couple’s gourmet kitchen, Tiesman added Shaker-style white cabinetry from Wellborn Forest. Their dream kitchen had become a reality.

“We deliberated between layouts and designs with multiple ways to make the best use of space,” Tiesman says. “This was certainly a fun one to work on, and the couple was thrilled with the outcome.”

At Spahn & Rose locations throughout Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, expert cabinet designers like Tiesman are ready to help craft your dream kitchen with high-quality cabinets from leading manufacturers such as Dura Supreme, Shiloh, Wellborn Forest, Omega and Cambria.

“Our designers are excellent at maximizing a client’s budget,” Tiesman says. “We find ways to save without sacrificing design.”

For example, Spahn & Rose cabinet designers can make use of added cabinet features in the highest-traffic areas of a kitchen to increase efficiency—then save money by using cabinets with more basic features in areas that don’t see as much activity.

Spahn & Rose cabinet designers also take the worry out of creating a new kitchen. They’ll visit the job site, take all necessary measurements and review the design multiple times, down to the final countertop placement, to ensure that the kitchen ends up exactly as desired.

“We work with the customer on every little detail,” says Maria Burgmeier, Cabinet Designer in the Dubuque Spahn & Rose location. “If you compare a kitchen-cabinet design drawing from a big box to one of ours, there’s no comparison. We’re simply more detail-oriented and provide more value.

Another advantage Spahn & Rose cabinet designers have over those from big-box stores is access to multiple cabinet suppliers. “Customers aren’t forced to pick between just two companies,” says Jesse Pagel, a Cabinet Designer in Spahn & Rose’s Waverly, Iowa, store.

“With access to these companies, we can adjust the construction and accessories on each cabinet. Our design is more flexible to truly tailor the kitchen to your needs.”
