When Terry Bosko, a customer of the Warren, Illinois, Spahn & Rose, started planning a new home, the window decision came down to three core priorities: performance, style and confidence in the brand behind it.

“Good quality of the windows, energy efficiency and window style to match our house style” drove the selection from the beginning, Terry says. Familiarity with Andersen Windows helped reinforce that direction. “Knowledge of Andersen as a reputable brand helped us in making our decision.”
That combination of design flexibility and performance is central to Andersen’s approach. Window selections are built around architectural compatibility, allowing homeowners to match details such as grille patterns and proportions to the overall style of the home. Prairie-style grilles, for example, create a clean, geometric pattern along the perimeter of the glass, a look rooted in classic American design that emphasizes structure while keeping the center of the window open for light and views.
For Terry, that detail was crucial. “The prairie style grille options was also important.” The result is a finished look that aligns with the home’s architecture instead of competing with it.
Performance carried equal weight in the decision.
“Energy efficiency, window style, ease in cleaning and color options were important in selecting windows,” Terry explains. Andersen window systems are engineered to support long-term comfort through advanced glass options and tight construction that help manage heat transfer and maintain interior temperatures throughout the year. Features such as double-hung and casement configurations also support everyday usability, including easier cleaning and ventilation depending on the room.
After installation, those choices have delivered.
“The windows have met our expectations. The style perfectly matches our home style,” Terry says.
Guidance during the selection process also played a key role. Aaron Miller, General Manager of the Spahn & Rose in Warren, Illinois, worked with Terry to translate preferences into a finished window package.
“We relied on his extensive experience with Andersen windows to guide our choice,” Terry says.
Seeing grille options and design elements in person made a difference as well. “Having the window grille choices on display was beneficial instead of just looking at a photo in a brochure,” Terry says.
That hands-on approach can help remove uncertainty during the build process, especially when design details carry long-term impact.

As with many projects, there are small decisions that stand out after move-in. For Terry, one of those involves integrated features that could further streamline the space.
“I would have gotten the built-in shades for the sliding door in the bedroom so that I did not have to purchase drapes,” Terry says. Andersen offers integrated blind and shade options across select door and window lines, giving homeowners another way to manage light and privacy while maintaining a clean interior look.
From product selection to installation, the project reflects how the right combination of performance, design and expert guidance can shape the outcome of a home build. With Andersen windows and support from Spahn & Rose, Terry was able to align those elements into a finished result that performs as expected and fits the home’s overall vision.
